just wondering what's his name in the manga and/or in anime, is it written as kenpachi or kempachi? because some people said kenpachi and some said kempachi. i always thought it's kempachi.

its kenpachi coz the ittle gir on his back in ep 29 - 32 keeps on saying "ken chan" so she calls him ken ...short for kenpachi

Yup I also think it's kenpachi, kem-chan just doesn't sound right.
I could be wrong though.

i just thought that the consonant 'n' before a consonant 'p' would be read as 'm' so kempachi. in the anime, someone said ken-chan, because -chan is just a title, just like 'mister' so the consonant 'n' stays as 'n' when we pronounce it. i thought if we say his name, it would be kempachi-chan instead of kenpachi-chan, but anyway i might be wrong, so i just wondering what the manga wrote.

It's Kenpachi... it's what I've always seen in the manga.. though some probably say it as Kempachi coz from what I know of the Japanese language, when "n" is placed right before "p" it is pronounced as "m". And his vice-captain (that pink-haired gal i forgot her name) calls him Ken-chan.
I read somewhere "Kenpachi" has a pretty ominous meaning.. though i forgot... :o
